Dave Nikolejsin

David Nikolejsin is a strategic advisor for McCarthy Tétrault located in British Columbia. Leveraging more than 15 years of experience as a leader within the B.C. government, David effectively navigates clients through the strategic shifts needed to remain competitive in Canada’s mining, energy and technology markets.

David previously served the B.C. government as Deputy Minister for seven years under the Natural Gas Development and Energy and Mines Ministries, where he was responsible for mining, BC Hydro, independent power producers, oil, natural gas, and pipeline affairs. Prior to this, David was the Associate Deputy Minister of the Environmental Assessment Office, where he acted as Chief Executive of the stand-alone office responsible for environmental assessments of major projects in B.C., and David also served as the British Columbia Government Associate Deputy Minister and Chief Information Officer.

David also plays a leading role in driving innovation and collaboration in Canada’s technology and digital space. Currently the Board Chair of the Digital Identification and Authentication Council of Canada, David provides guidance for Canada’s digital future with other public and private sector leaders in helping to set the strategic direction for Canadians’ full and secure participation in the global digital economy.

Through his extensive work in developing natural resources projects, David has developed a passion for helping First Nations achieve their goals in the natural resources space. David works closely with a number of First Nations and Indigenous organizations on a wide range of projects and policy.
